Rex, have you tried Fat Boys in Arkadelphia? Tony Bell is serving a pretty good burger. The last time I was in there I accidently left the mayonaise wraper in the burger and bit down on it as Tony happened to walk by, he was alarmed to say the least untill we discovered what it was that was so tough in the burger! G.B.

Kinda funny reading about UNC-Pembroke with a Pembroke Corgi asleep at your feet...

Sabrena's Drive In out on US 270 west of Hot Springs has the best burger I've eaten anywhere. It wrestled the title away from Mel's Drive In in Malvern which I thought could never happen. I've had burgers from Texas to the Carolinas, but Sabrena's rules the roost.

However, the Big Red in Russellville is a close 2nd in the state honors. We ate there last month for the first time, and it was great. I want to try CJ's because of all the hype, but I can't see it being any better than the Big Red. We did drive by CJ's on the same trip, and it looks like a great place to eat.

I haven't tried the new Five Guys, but we did eat at two of them on vacation this year. I had heard of the place, but never eaten there. Five Guys popped up on our GPS in Knoxville,TN,and we beat a path over to the restaurant before it closed. They have awesome burgers, but they aren't as good as A.B.C. or the Buffalo Grill IMO. We went to another one in Kill Devil Hills due to how good the first one was.

Trey: I really need to try Five Guys. I have heard great things. Arkansas Burger Co. is near my home and is my hamburger of choice when in Little Rock with the Buffalo Grill and Cotham's running a close second and third. I'm also going to get back on the Town Pump bandwagon now that they have banned that nasty smoking inside. Please, no one suggest one of those "21 and over" places that allow smoking. I won't go, no matter how good the burger.

I know it's a chain, but have you tried the new Five Guys in Lakewood? I still haven't made it that way, but I heard people clamoring for weeks before it opened. Those that I've talked to said it lived up to the hype. I certainly respect your opinion when it comes to food. You've continued to disappoint me by picking the Bears though. I believe your pick is what's been holding them back. Now that you're off the wagon, we'll upset McNeese. (c'mon superstition!)
